Srinagar, June 22 (KNO) : National Conference Saturday expressed grief over the losses to people following heavy hailstorm across the valley, urging the incumbent governor administration to come to the rescue of people in distress. Member of Parliament from Anantnag Hasnain Masoodi while expressing anguish over the heavy material losses to orchardists and other marginalized farmers in south Kashmir said, “The incessant rains and hail storm have played havoc with the normal life across south Kashmir districts. People who had pinned high hopes on their standing crops stand disconsolate. The vagaries of weather have destroyed various standing crops across south Kashmir districts. The orchardists have suffered irreversible losses to their orchards. One cannot tame the fury of Mother Nature, however it is the duty of governor’s administration to come to the rescue of those who have been hit by the recent incessant rains and hail storm.” According to a statement issued to KNO, he urged the incumbent governor administration to swing its men and machinery into action and ensure that material losses to farmers, orchardists are recompensed at an earliest. “Areas like Pakharpora, Trichal, Rajpura, Bubgam, Thahab, Maspona, Gabarpura, Panzijageer, Aribal stand worst hit due to the vagaries of calamitous weather. In most of these areas the populations stand disconnected with their main towns; the culverts, water supply schemes, electricity network has been worst hit in these areas. As of now the district administration has miserably failed to provide succor to the affected populations. I urge the governor administration to rise from slumber and depute revenue teams to the affected areas to ascertain the material losses to farmers, orchardists. I also urge the divisional administration to ensure speedy compensation to affected households as well. Moreover the administration should resume road connectivity to the affected areas on priority basis,” he said. Meanwhile, party’s senior leader and Member of Parliament from Baramulla Mohammad Akbar Lone urged the divisional administration to come to the rescue of people who have been severally hit by the vagaries of weather. He has asked the administration compensate the losses to people at an earliest.(KNO)
